Funding
What We Fund
ILT Foundation proudly funds a wide range of community groups and charitable causes benefitting the Invercargill community.
What
Our operating license is issued by DIA who require us to make grants only for authorised purposes. To find out more about DIA authorised purposes please see Authorised Purpose Guidelines for Societies and Clubs – dia.govt.nz
Grants must also fit within our funding policy. Please refer to our Grants and Accountability policy for more information.
Where
We generate and return funds locally. Grants must benefit the Invercargill district. You can check our boundary guidelines here (Invercargill-District-map).

Applying for Funding
Before applying for funding, we recommend you see our Grants and Accountability Policy to ensure eligibility and read the supporting information required below.

Supporting Information Required
Minute Resolution
Applications must provide with their application a recent minute resolution which must include:
- Date of meeting
- Amount you are applying for and the specific purpose
- That you are applying to ILT Foundation
- The name, position and signature of your secretary or other executive committee member
Example of a resolution:
It was agreed at the committee meeting of ABC Community Trust, held on 16th April 2025, to apply to ILT Foundation for a grant of $5,000 to cover the cost of two new laptops.
I certify that this is a true and correct record of a resolution passed at that meeting

Budget
Approved budgets should include income and expenses for your organisation. If the grant is for a specific project, please include a project budget as well as your organisation overall budget.
Example of Budget :

Wages and Salaries
Please provide a signed employment contract and job description for any wage or salary requests. Wages and salaries are only considered where they meet an authorised purpose according to DIA. Employment contracts provide us with this evidence. You will also need to supply payroll records for accountability. We treat these with confidentiality, and you can view our privacy policy in our About Us section.
Example of accountability for wages and salaries:

Competitive Quotes
At least 2 quotes are required for expenses. This is to help us ensure that we meet DIA regulations in funding reasonable costs. Even if you have a preferred provider, a comparable quote is needed. If you are unable to provide a second quote, please provide an explanation – eg – Only one provider in region. For operating costs such as power or rent, please provide the 3 most recent invoices as quotes.

Financial Statements
Most recent financial statements. We understand timing of annual accounts can differ. If financial statements are more than 6 months old, please include recent financial reports as well.

Funding Committees
The net proceeds committee are the people who make decisions on grant applications. At ILT Foundation our board members are our net proceeds committee. You can read more about them on our About Us page. Our board meets regularly (usually once a month) to review grant applications.
